750ml
Silky, fragrant and very drinkable. Cloudy Bay is best known for Sauvignon Blanc, but its Pinot Noir is a quiet star: all red fruit, rose petals and soft spice.
About Cloudy Bay
Founded in 1985 in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough, Cloudy Bay helped put New Zealand wine on the world stage. The Pinot Noir comes from vineyards in Marlborough's Southern Valleys, where cool clay soils and north-facing slopes suit this delicate grape.
Winemaking
Aged for around 11 months in French oak.
Nose
Wild berries, crushed rose petals and warm red cherry.
Palate
Silky tannins with summer berries, soft spice, vanilla and a touch of toasty oak.
Finish
Strawberries with a gentle hint of smoke.
How to enjoy
Serve slightly cool, around 12–15°C. It's great with duck, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, salmon or Peking duck. It's drinking well now but can also be kept for a few years.
