50% | 70cl
Dry smoke, salted caramel and apple sauce. This is heavily peated Islay whisky made from barley grown on Islay itself, which makes it a true taste of the island.
About Port Charlotte
Port Charlotte is the heavily peated whisky from Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, named after the village just down the road. The Islay Barley releases use only barley grown on the island's own farms, so you can taste where it comes from.
Maturation
Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2018 at 6 years old. Matured mostly in ex-bourbon casks, with some second-fill wine casks. Bottled at 50% with no chill-filtration and natural colour.
Nose
Campfire smoke, ripe nectarines, white cake and fresh-cut grass.
Palate
Oily and smoky, with ash and a medicinal edge, lifted by floral sweetness.
Finish
Medium-long, with lingering coal smoke and a sweet cake note.
How to enjoy
At 50%, try it neat first, then add a little water. It's great with smoked meats, grilled lamb or a strong blue cheese.
