Australia’s answer to the single malt rulebook.
From Sydney’s award-winning Archie Rose Distilling Co. comes a single malt that refuses to play by the usual rules. Instead of relying on one or two types of malted barley, Archie Rose uses six distinct malts, each bringing its own layer of flavour and character to the final spirit.
The result is rich, fruit-forward and seriously moreish.
Matured predominantly in Australian Apera (sherry) casks, alongside ex-bourbon and Archie Rose’s own 36-month air-dried ex-rye casks, the whisky develops plenty of dried-fruit sweetness and oak-driven complexity. The nose brings sun-dried apricot, preserved peach, honeycomb and sultanas, followed by roasted nuts, cacao and dark chocolate.
On the palate, it gets gloriously indulgent: sticky date pudding, sultanas, amaretto and espresso, wrapped in a soft, syrupy texture. The sweetness gradually gives way to a pleasantly dry finish, with just a whisper of smoke keeping things interesting.
At 46% ABV, it has enough weight and intensity to stand up beautifully when sipped neat, but it is approachable enough for whisky drinkers who are venturing beyond the familiar Scottish classics.
And the awards? Let's just say Archie Rose has collected enough of them to make the trophy cabinet nervous.
