2021 Vintage

Critic tasting note: (2021 vintage) "A lively, driven and precise red with plenty of verve and vibrancy. The nose shows aromas of raspberries, wild berries, bitter orange and warm stones. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. It’s vivid, with a crunchy, zesty character at the center. Bitter orange shows up between the solid frame of tannins, coating the edges. So much tension. Well-driven, long finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Try after 2026." - James Suckling

Sommelier's advice: Recommended food pairing: candied pork cheek with chanterelles.
Grape variety/varieties: 80 % Grenache. 20 % Syrah.
Harvest: By hand.
Soil: Lower terraces of the Rhône, old alluvial deposits, pebbles over Creteceous marl.
Vinification: Vinification in rough concrete tanks. The harvested grapes are totally destemmed. Fermentation with native yeasts. Progressive increase of temperature to 28-30°C. 4-5 weeks’ vatting with minimalist extraction resulting in a passive infusion and stirring of the lees during the last 3 weeks.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep ruby.

Nose: Nose of ripe fruit, spice and bitter cocoa. Notes of blackberry jelly and aromatic herbs emerge once the wine has had chance to breathe.

Palate: Soft with velvety tannins on entry, the palate shows a lovely balance of concentration and complexity. The notes of liqueurs and rich juice give way to hints of soft spice and dark chocolate on the finish.
